Fontaines D.C. Pay Tribute to Manager and '6th Member of the Band' Trevor Dietz
The band said Dietz, 54, guided them from grassroots venues to global success and raised more than €500,000 for aid groups.
On Tuesday, June 9, Fontaines D.C. announced their manager Trevor Dietz died on Sunday, June 7, aged 54. The band called him the 'sixth member' in a social media tribute.
Dietz began managing the Irish band in 2016, guiding their rise from students at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute to internationally acclaimed artists. He previously worked as a promoter at The Workman's Club in Dublin.
After 10 years of working with the group, Dietz's impact remained profound. The band stated they were 'utterly heartbroken,' noting he 'cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world.'
Industry figures paid tribute, with promoter Simon Merriman calling Dietz a 'huge figure within the Irish music industry' who played an enormous role in shaping it. Kneecap and DJ Annie McManus also shared condolences.
Fontaines D.C. is set to return to the stage in August for European dates and a headline set at Reading & Leeds Festival in 2026. The group has recently contributed music to various soundtracks and albums.
Trevor Dietz, the manager of the Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C., has passed away. The group announced this on Instagram. It is unclear what caused the 47-year-old Dietz's death.
