Rijnmonders Flee the Dirtiest Air in the Netherlands

In the Rijnmond region, people are fleeing from the bad air. These are people with asthma or COPD who often have so many breathing problems that they move. "I have a life again," says Desiree Brouwer. She moved from Vlaardingen to Sweden. "I do my own shopping, cycle a lot and go out again. I am also looking for new work again," she says at Rijnmond. Sanne Elenbaas from Rotterdam, Christine van den Berg from Hoeksche Waard and Desiree Brouwer from Vlaardingen do not know each other, but they have one thing in common. They suffer from asthma and lung problems, which caused them to swap the Rotterdam region for another place of residence, sometimes even another country.
