Firm tied to Trump’s social media alleges ex-partner siphoned off millions
The complaint says Utley spent $29 million in company money on gambling in 2025 and used funds for luxury goods and personal investments.
X Strategies, a social media firm for President Donald Trump, filed a lawsuit on Friday in U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach, Florida, accusing former CFO Derek Utley of embezzling at least $5 million.
Co-Founded by Utley and Alex Bruesewitz in 2017, the firm gave Utley exclusive access to bank accounts and financial records, enabling him to allegedly embezzle funds until an internal review uncovered discrepancies earlier this year.
The lawsuit alleges Utley gambled $29 million on slots at a single casino in 2025, resulting in a $3 million net loss, while also funding luxury cars, designer goods, and a Miami fitness studio.
Utley resigned his executive positions on April 3, but was later fired for allegedly falsifying medical records to secure paid leave; he has since disputed the embezzlement claims and will address them in court.
Firm president Michael Seifert uncovered the thefts, leading to the suit that also names Utley's former girlfriend, Anna Weisheimer, as a co-defendant accused of laundering funds through her Miami fitness studio.
