29 Rescued After Fire Breaks Out at Mumbai’s Aayakar Bhavan
Firefighters and emergency teams mobilised as they evacuated upper floors and reported no casualties, while officials awaited the cause and damage assessment.
On Monday afternoon, the Mumbai Fire Brigade responded to a fire in the basement of Aayakar Bhavan, an Income Tax Office building in Churchgate, South Mumbai, with emergency teams actively working to control the blaze.
This incident marks the second fire reported in Mumbai on Monday, following an earlier blaze that broke out in a four-storey commercial building in the Kandivali area in the early morning hours.
During the earlier Kandivali operation at the Abhirai Hotel on Station Road, firefighters rescued 11 people from a lodging house located on the second floor through the staircase with no reported injuries.
At the Aayakar Bhavan site, the Mumbai Fire Brigade classified the incident as Level-1 at 2:10 pm, while personnel from police, BEST, and BMC supported ongoing evacuation efforts from upper floors.
Authorities have not yet determined the exact causes for either fire, and officials expect to complete damage assessments and investigations once the firefighting operations are fully concluded.
