Crews Respond to Liquid Natural Gas Tank Fire in Glenpool
Two tanks remain on fire after a lightning strike at the Explorer Pipeline facility, and schools and nearby businesses were evacuated.
Emergency crews are responding to a liquid natural gas tank fire at the Explorer Pipeline Facility in Glenpool after two tanks exploded around 8:33 a.m. on Monday.
Lightning struck a tank at the Explorer Pipeline Glenpool facility earlier this morning, according to Explorer Pipeline, triggering the fire that crews are now working to contain.
Surrounding businesses and residences have been evacuated immediately, while Glenpool Public Schools students are sheltering in place within their buildings as a precaution.
The Glenpool Police Department has closed 126th Street South between Casper Avenue and Elwood, directing drivers to alternate routes via 121st Street to avoid the area.
Police report no injuries have occurred at this time, and emergency officials continue monitoring the site while additional response resources are en route to the facility.
