Fifty migrants feared lost in Mediterranean, 10 survive after boat capsizes, security sources say
Ten survivors were rescued and taken to a local hospital after the wooden boat carried about 60 migrants, security sources said.
At least 50 migrants, including women and children, are feared lost after their wooden boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off eastern Libya, with 10 survivors rescued near El-Bardaa Island, according to two security sources.
The boat was carrying about 60 migrants from various sub-Saharan countries and set sail early Tuesday morning before the accident.
Separately, rescue teams in Tobruk found four migrant bodies and rescued 24 survivors after their boat drifted for two weeks in Libyan waters.
In June, around 26 migrant bodies were recovered near Tobruk from a capsized boat that had 28 migrants on board, with four confirmed dead.
