FIFA wants to resolve administrative and diplomatic issues before the tournament as Iran prepares to play its matches in the United States.

- Following a clash with Canadian border officials, FFIRI president Mehdi Taj and his delegation departed the FIFA Congress in Vancouver last week.
- Canada designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization in 2024; Taj, a former member, claimed the delegation was "insulted" by immigration officers.
- FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently confirmed Iran's participation, stating, "Let me start by the outset, confirming straightaway that of course Iran will be participating at the FIFA World Cup 2026."
- Iran is scheduled to play in Group G, based in Tucson, Arizona, and will open their campaign against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15.
