Festival of Angoulême tainted: an investigation opened after a complaint of rape at the 2024 edition

A former employee of 9eArt+, who has been in charge of organizing the Festival d'Angoulême since 2007, filed a complaint of rape concerning events that allegedly occurred during the 2024 edition. Judicial information has since been opened.

A former employee of the cultural event also accuses the organizing company 9eArt+ of having fired him as a result of his complaint.

The complainant was dismissed from 9eArt+, which organizes the festival a month after filing a complaint. She also referred the matter to the board of Paris's lawyers.

Judicial information has now been opened, following the complaint by a former employee of the Festival de la BD d'Angoulême who denounces a rape during the 2024 edition.

The proceedings were opened "last week", said the public prosecutor in Angoulême, Stéphanie Aouine.
