Female passenger killed as car hits tree in Canberra's south
A 41-year-old female passenger died after a grey SUV crashed into a tree; the 30-year-old driver was seriously injured, marking the third road fatality in the ACT this year.

- Members of the public provided first aid to the driver and attempted to assist the passenger, while the 30-year-old male driver was hospitalised with serious injuries.
- Yamba Drive was closed in both directions for several hours yesterday while police assessed the crash scene, and the woman's death is the ACT's third road fatality this year, adding to tragedies that marred the Australia Day long weekend.
