Federal Agents, LAPD Make Arrests in Sex Trafficking Enforcement Operation
On Wednesday, federal and local authorities arrested 10 people in South Los Angeles, launching the second phase of "Operation Broken Blade" targeting sex trafficking along the Figueroa Corridor.
A 65-count indictment charges 18 individuals, including Hoover Criminal Gang members, with trafficking 51 victims—some as young as 14—recruited through social media and false promises of luxury.
Mukeshkumar Rambhai Ahir, manager of the Stadium Inn & Spas, faces charges for allegedly depositing $64,581 in proceeds derived from sex trafficking along the street known as "Fig."
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said, "We hope today's arrests break the cycle of crime and abuse in one of L.A.'s most notorious human trafficking corridors," adding that convicted defendants face minimum 15-year sentences.
This crackdown follows the Figueroa Human Trafficking Initiative launched in September 2024, a multi-agency partnership designed to dismantle criminal enterprises and reclaim the corridor for the community.
