Farage says he is worried Trump will step up Iran war after midterm 'disaster'
Farage said the war has driven up fuel prices and cost Republicans control of Congress after Democrats won both chambers.
On Thursday, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage scolded President Donald Trump for 'failing to keep promises' regarding the eight-month war in Iran, blaming the conflict for heavy Republican midterm losses.
Initiated in February 2026, the conflict in Iran became a central political liability as rising fuel prices alienated voters; Farage accused Trump of abandoning his 'no more foreign wars' pledge.
Democrats swept control of both the Senate and House on Tuesday, results Farage described as an 'absolute shellacking,' while Trump acknowledged the war's link to fuel prices but insisted he 'did not regret' the attack.
Evaluating his administration amid the electoral losses, Trump is reportedly considering personnel changes, including the future of Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon.
Farage warned that further military escalation would worsen global inflation and oil prices, though he argued Republicans could still win the 2028 presidential election despite this week's losses.
