Northern California High School Graduation Shooting Suspect Arrested in Texas
Police said the arrest followed hundreds of hours of work and that the suspect remains held in Texas pending extradition to Solano County.
On Friday, a 17-year-old suspect was arrested in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in connection with the June 3 shooting at a Fairfield graduation ceremony that killed 18-year-old Jamario Baker and wounded three others.
The fatal incident occurred during the Sem Yeto High School graduation ceremony held at the Fairfield High School stadium, where about 1,000 attendees were present when gunfire erupted.
Fairfield Police Department detectives tracked the teenager to Texas with United States Marshals Service assistance after reviewing surveillance video and conducting dozens of witness interviews to develop a comprehensive case.
The suspect is being held on suspicion of murder and related offenses while awaiting extradition to Solano County, where he will face trial for the attack.
Fairfield police will discuss the case at a news conference Monday at 4 p.m., while the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District said the community's "patience, resilience, and cooperation have been invaluable throughout this investigation.
