IDB launches new non-reimbursable funding program to mitigate natural disasters
Bahía Blanca was a sample of the destruction capacity of natural disasters. They irreversibly affect families and generate economic losses of difficult recovery. The Buenos Aires mayor, Federico Susbielles, had estimated them at $400 billion. A study by the Inter-American Bank (IDB) revealed that 74 such events hit Latin America in 2024 and caused damages equivalent to US$10 billion.
