Rescue teams in the Eyjafjörður area were called out on the highest priority due to a report of an avalanche at Ólafsfjörður. It was suspected that one of the group in the area had been caught in the flood, but now everyone has been found uninjured.
An avalanche recently hit Ólafsfjörður. One person was caught in the avalanche and was initially searched for, but he has now returned to the search safely. This is confirmed by Andri Freyr Sveinsson, Chief of Police for the East North Iceland Region. The avalanche occurred outside the settlement in Skeggjabrekkudalur near the golf course.
