Brush fire in Garfield County prompts evacuation alerts

Evacuations are one mile west and east of County Roads 309 and 320 near Rulison. Two shelters are open at the Garfield County and Parachute fairgrounds.

Evacuations put in place near Rulison due to quickly spreading brush fire

Wildland fire reported on Hwy. 40 milepost 25

The Moffat County emergency services were notified of a wildland fire in the area of milepost 25 on Highway 40. Artesia Fire is on scene, beginning suppression efforts with wildland firefighters en route to assist from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Land Management.  Officials ask that the public avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to battle the fire without interruption.
