A hospital ward in Giżycko was evacuated, Grzegorz Zubowicz, spokesman for the Giżycko Fire Department, told polsatnews.pl. "Heavy rains caused water to seep through the ceiling and flood the ward, which houses patients connected to specialized equipment," he added. The firefighter noted that water was visible in service holes and on cables.
Patients being treated in the intensive care unit at the hospital in Giżycko had to be evacuated. Two factors contributed to this situation.
The Intensive Care Unit at the District Hospital in Giżycko was evacuated after heavy rainfall flooded the ground floor of the facility. Patients requiring specialized care were transferred to other hospitals in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. This is due to ongoing construction work at the hospital.
