EMA Fast-Tracks Review of Revolutions’ Experimental Pancreatic Cancer Pill
The review follows Phase 3 results showing improved overall and progression-free survival versus chemotherapy in previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer patients.
On Tuesday, the European Medicines Agency initiated a phased review of Revolution Medicines' experimental treatment, daraxonrasib, for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
This assessment follows "unprecedented" results from the pivotal Phase 3 RASolute 302 trial, which demonstrated significant improvements in overall and progression-free survival compared to standard cytotoxic chemotherapy.
Patients with metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma face limited therapeutic options, with the EMA noting a "poor prognosis" and a life expectancy of about six months after disease progression.
The phased review process allows regulators to evaluate quality, safety, and efficacy data as they become available, potentially shortening the assessment timeline compared to conventional marketing applications.
Concurrently, Revolution Medicines is completing a rolling New Drug Application submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under the Commissioner's National Priority Voucher pilot program.
