Nineteen EU countries seek EU Commission funding for return hubs outside the bloc to enhance systematic returns and expand operational capacity including Frontex involvement.

After the European Union significantly tightened its immigration policy earlier this month, 19 EU countries on Wednesday urged the European Commission to finance "return hubs" outside the bloc for failed asylum-seekers.
The EU is intensifying its asylum policy. Switzerland is open to controversial return centres outside Europe.
A number of EEA/EU countries have agreed to establish a common legal basis for asylum and exit centres in third countries outside Europe. Now 19 countries want the EU Commission to ensure that the funding can be done through EU funds. But Norway is not among these 19. This can be seen as a Christmas present - for the future of Europe.
