- Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, designed the project as part of the Dangote Group's Vision 2030 strategy to expand African energy infrastructure and reduce reliance on road transport logistics.
- The project includes two major storage facilities with capacity for about 800,000 cubic metres at Dewele and 375,000 cubic metres at Damerjog. According to Billene Seyoum, spokesperson for Prime Minister Abiy, the pipeline is expected to become operational within 18 months.
- President Guelleh stated the terminal will "stimulate economic activity" and expand port operations, creating thousands of jobs while strengthening Djibouti's position as a critical logistics gateway for Ethiopia's trade.
- Dangote is expanding energy ambitions across Africa, developing a 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Kenya and a proposed 2,650-kilometre pipeline network in southern Africa to support nations in achieving self-sufficiency in refined products.
