- On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Chief Ikeje Asogwa of the All Progressives Congress winner of the Enugu North Senatorial by-election, securing 162,360 votes against Peoples Democratic Party rival Chief Nestor Ezeme's 9,299 votes.
- The by-election was held to replace late Senator Okey Ezea, a Labour Party member representing Enugu North Senatorial District, who died on November 18, 2025, at age 62.
- Other candidates included OssElias Okwudiri Ossai of the Nigerian Democratic Congress with 3,129 votes and Chika Idoko Emmanuel of the African Democratic Party with 1,676 votes; INEC reported 184,094 voters were accredited from 727,340 registered.
- Announcing the result on Sunday in Nsukka, Returning Officer Prof Christian Ezeibe declared Asogwa the winner, who said the outcome reflected an "overwhelming victory" of the six local government areas' residents.
- The senator-elect vowed to justify residents' massive support and confidence by delivering quality, effective representation to the Enugu North Senatorial District, succeeding Ezea's legacy.
