Macron Reappears Wearing Viral Aviator Sunglasses
Macron wore the blue-tinted aviators again because of an eye problem, after the sunglasses became a viral symbol at Davos.
- On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron wore blue-tinted aviator sunglasses while welcoming Sultan Haitham of Oman to the Palace in Paris, continuing to wear them during a signing ceremony and a Franco-Omani business forum.
- Staff at the Palace clarified that Macron wore the glasses due to "an eye problem" rather than for sun protection, mirroring the explanation provided during his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January.
- Following the Davos forum, demand for French eyewear maker Henry Jullien crashed their website, while a winemaker produced a rose bottle featuring the glasses and the phrase "For Sure."
- President Donald Trump fueled the buzz by quipping, "I watched him sort of be tough" with those "beautiful sunglasses," as the accessory became linked to Macron's perceived diplomatic toughness regarding Europe.
- Outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer released a mock "Top Gun" poster featuring himself and Macron as fighter pilots, illustrating how the sunglasses serve as shorthand for geopolitical posturing among Western leaders.

Emmanuel Macron has once again appeared wearing his famous ‘Top Gun’ sunglasses, which caused a great deal of commotion a few months ago.
