In northern Germany, several children are seriously ill with marital disease. Where the bacterium comes from, why it is so dangerous – and why the disease becomes more common.
Various counties in the north-east are currently reporting contagions with the pathogen marital disease. Especially diseases of children become known. Some sufferers even have to be hospitalized, some even intensive medical treatment.
In the north-east of Germany, several children are infected with EHEC bacteria. Nothing is known about the source of the infections. Six children are treated in clinics.

The increased incidence of marital infections in children has alarmed the populations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Four are currently being treated in intensive care units - also in other federal countries.
