South Africa: Gauteng Political Killings Task Team Arrests Suspect in Dube Murder
Police arrested a 35-year-old suspect, and the EFF said it will attend the first court appearance.
On Wednesday, the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team arrested a 35-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of Economic Freedom Fighters Tshwane Region 2 Secretary Monicca Dube.
Dube, 44, was fatally shot by armed men at her Wallmannsthal home on June 13 while sleeping with her two children in the room.
The EFF stated that Dube previously survived an attempt on her life in February 2026, when she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and spent weeks recovering in intensive care.
Yesterday, the suspect appeared in the Cullinan Magistrate's Court, with EFF Gauteng confirming its attendance to monitor proceedings in the high-profile case.
EFF Gauteng welcomed the arrest, describing Dube as a committed leader whose death represents a significant loss to Tshwane and the broader revolutionary community.
