Brazilian Legend Retires In The Octagon After TKO Loss At UFC 330
The 40-year-old Brazilian ended a 16-year UFC run with a 24-15 record after an emotional postfight interview with Joe Rogan.
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, longtime UFC lightweight fighter Edson Barboza announced his retirement following a second-round TKO loss to Esteban Ribovics at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
The 40-year-old veteran concluded his 16-year career with a 24-15 record, having lost four consecutive bouts since his last victory against Sodiq Yusuff in October 2023.
Renowned for his striking, Barboza famously defeated Mike Lullo via TKO in his 2010 debut at UFC 123 and delivered an iconic spinning wheel kick knockout against Terry Etim at UFC 142.
After the fight, an emotional Barboza removed his gloves inside the Octagon, telling commentator Joe Rogan, "Every single fight I promise, I did my best."
While Barboza never captured a UFC title, he remains a fan favorite for his aggressive stand-up style, leaving a legacy as one of the sport's most exciting competitors.
