The 1% of the Richest Belgians Own as Much as the 75% Least Fortunate

Although inequality in Belgian wealth decreased significantly in the previous century, this decrease has come to a standstill in the past 20 years. This is evident from a research paper by doctoral student Arthur Apostel (UGent), reported by De Tijd. Today, the 1 percent richest Belgians own about as much as the 75 percent poorest.

The 1% of the most wealthy Belgians own as much as the 75% least fortunate, reports L'Echo and De Tijd Tuesday, citing a study by economist Arthur Apostel (UGent), published by the National Bank.
