Nine million pensioners in England and Wales will receive automatic payments of up to £300 to help with winter heating costs, following a government reversal of means-testing rules.

- From the end of this month nearly 900,000 older people in Scotland will receive the devolved Pension Age Winter Heating Payment from Social Security Scotland, and claim deadline is March 31, 2026.
