Research by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) shows that confidence in the House of Representatives was lower last year than in previous years. However, it is not all doom and gloom. The figures also show that confidence in civil servants and municipal councils has been rising since 2022, and that confidence in the European Union is growing.

The trust of the Dutch in politics in The Hague fell last year to its lowest level since 2012. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this based on the Social Cohesion and Well-being survey, which has been conducted since 2012. In 2025, one-fifth of those aged 15 and over had confidence in politicians, while a quarter had confidence in the House of Representatives. Around 7,600 people completed the survey.
