Jaguars Lose DaVon Hamilton to Season-Ending Quadriceps Injury
NFL Media said the defensive tackle will undergo more tests after the injury, and Jacksonville may need to add depth before the trade deadline.
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn quad during Sunday's 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Hamilton has been a vital anchor for Jacksonville's top-ranked run defense, which allows a league-low 77.4 rushing yards per game, contributing 260 tackles since the team drafted him in 2020.
Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen said, "We know what type of role D-Ham plays on our defense, and so the next person up has big shoes to fill," while Coach Liam Coen previously praised Hamilton's versatility.
The injury has significantly increased urgency for Jaguars general manager James Gladstone to find a replacement before the November 10 trade deadline, as the team was already monitoring the defensive tackle market.
While the Jaguars possess interior defenders like Arik Armstead and Ruke Orhorhoro, the front office is exploring external options such as Cowboys defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia to maintain defensive dominance.
