Receiver Brandon Aiyuk Files Paperwork to Be Reinstated to the 49ers
Drew Rosenhaus said Aiyuk has filed reinstatement paperwork and will report to the 49ers’ facility, a first step toward forcing a trade or release.
On Wednesday, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk filed for reinstatement from the reserve/left squad list, with agent Drew Rosenhaus confirming he will report to the San Francisco 49ers' facility on Friday.
The 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list last December after he ceased communication, subsequently voiding approximately $25 million in 2026 salary guarantees due to missed rehab and team activities.
Aiyuk has not played since suffering a catastrophic right knee injury in Week 7 of the 2024 season, shortly after signing a four-year, $120 million contract extension with the team.
With the NFL trade deadline on November 10, the organization must decide whether to keep, trade, or release the receiver, though head coach Kyle Shanahan previously indicated he did not envision Aiyuk returning.
Rosenhaus stated, "Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field," signaling a strategic push to force the team's hand before the November 10 deadline.
