After the driest first half of 1976, Britain classified the current water shortage in England as "of national importance." On Tuesday, the British Environmental Agency (EA) declared that five out of 14 of its operational regions in England suffered from drought, and six more were affected by persistent drought. Water supplies were exhausted, and the situation affected the harvest, it was said.
This summer 2025 is marked by drought: a shortage of water "of national importance" in England and more than half of the soils in Europe and the Mediterranean coasts affected by drought for the past four months.
