Specialty Beverages Sold in 25 States Recalled for Possible Contamination
According to a Saturday notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, specialty beverages distributed by SKS Copack across 25 states were recalled due to contaminated dry milk powder. Affected products included matcha green tea, caramel latte and vanilla smoothie bases from Angel Specialty Products, Royal Gold, Boba Time, Fanale and Denda brands.
California Dairies, Inc. initiated a voluntary April recall of low heat nonfat dry milk powder after routine testing identified positive salmonella results, prompting SKS Copack to halt distribution of affected beverages made with the ingredient.
SKS Copack stopped distributing affected items immediately upon discovery, and although no illnesses have been reported to date, consumers are urged to return products for full refunds. Salmonella symptoms can develop within 12 to 72 hours of consumption, lasting four to seven days with typical symptoms including diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.
The contaminated milk powder affected multiple food categories beyond beverages, including Kroger Homestyle Cheese Garlic Croutons distributed between March 7 and April 7, 2026, to 17 states, as well as frozen pizzas from Aldi and Walmart stores nationwide.
Consumers who ingested affected products should monitor for symptom onset within 12 to 72 hours, as severe salmonella infections may cause high fever, headaches and blood in stool requiring immediate medical attention, though most infections resolve without treatment within four to seven days.
