The Norwegian Institute of Public Health has assessed the levels of aluminum in drinking water from Kyrkjebø waterworks in Høyanger. The measured levels are above what is considered safe for several age groups, especially infants and young children.
The drinking water has had up to 28 times more aluminum than recommended. Now the municipality of Høyanger has set up a crisis team and introduced a drinking ban.
