Crisis between France and Algeria: Justice refuses to suspend the expulsion of the influencer Doualemn

Doualemn, by his real name Boualem Naman, had broadcast a video in which he called for a "severe correction" to an opponent of power in Algeria.

He was arrested on 20 March in the Hérault with a view to his expulsion, after a first attempt in January, prevented by Algeria's refusal.

On 20 March, the Algerian had been arrested by the French police pending his return to his country of origin. He had then been placed in an administrative detention centre. Paris had already tried to expel him for the first time in January but Algiers had refused his entry into the territory, triggering the anger of the French authorities.

While relations between Paris and Algiers remain tense, the French court rejected a request for a stay of proceedings against the influencer, by his real name Boualem Naman, ruling that his expulsion did not "obviously disproportionately affect" his rights.

Relations between the two countries have deteriorated dramatically since Paris' recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and this decision has subsequently exacerbated a series of diplomatic crises.
