DoorDash and Uber Eats to offer delivery from US Costco stores – WTOP News

Costco members can now order groceries, household items and electronics through both apps as the retailer widens its third-party delivery reach.

  • Washington-Based Costco today launched nationwide delivery with DoorDash, following a similar expansion from Uber Eats earlier this week. Both companies now provide same-day delivery from all 639 warehouse locations.
  • These expansions broaden access for the warehouse chain, which serves 81 million members worldwide. Previously, San Francisco-based Uber Eats limited delivery to 17 states, while DoorDash lacked a domestic partnership.
  • The move intensifies competition with Instacart, which has served as Costco's primary third-party delivery partner for nearly a decade. Instacart continues managing fulfillment and website operations for the warehouse chain.
  • Users frequently searched for "Costco" in the DoorDash app, indicating strong demand for the partnership. The warehouse chain's online business is growing faster than core merchandising sales.
  • Members must link their active Costco membership within the apps to access delivery services, deepening loyalty and attracting younger shoppers who prefer bulk-size selections online. This membership-gating strategy reinforces the warehouse model.
