The European Commission sees European companies protected from new US tariffs. A clear upper limit of 15 percent for exports from the European Union has been agreed, it said from Brussels. Previously, US President Trump announced new tariffs on imports of medicines, furniture and trucks.
The announcement of new US tariffs of 100 percent on pharmaceuticals has caused excitement in the German pharmaceutical industry. But Brussels sees the EU protected by the new agreement - one continues to assume a 15-percent upper limit.
As of 1 October, the US plans to impose 100 percent tariffs on patented medicines. The industry is in turmoil. As a result, drug prices in Germany could also rise.
