Two lots of raw pet food recalled after routine testing found salmonella and listeria contamination; no related illnesses reported so far, officials said.
- On Aug. 25, Viva Raw LLC announced a voluntary recall of dog and cat foods over listeria and salmonella risks, following FDA notification.
- Routine state testing found the problem when the North Carolina Department of Agriculture detected contamination in two lots, prompting Viva Raw LLC to recall Lots 21495 and 21975.
- The recall targets two numbered lots with six varieties, distributed between July 2 and Aug. 21 nationwide and to retailers in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, New York, and South Carolina, sold as one‑pound frozen bricks with lot numbers.
- So far, no illnesses have been linked to these lots as of Monday, but pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems face higher risk and should monitor symptoms for up to 70 days after exposure.
