Disney Adventure Cruise Cancelled Day After Boarding Due to Mechanical Fault
Disney Cruise Line said affected guests received full refunds, hotel stays and $500 per stateroom after the ship’s technical issue.
On Monday, May 11, Disney Cruise Line's Disney Adventure resumed operations after a mechanical issue forced cancellation of its previous four-night Singapore voyage last week.
The vessel, the largest in Disney Cruise Line's fleet and the company's first permanent deployment in Asia, was forced to scrap the May 7 sailing after holidaymakers had already boarded when technical problems emerged.
Disney offered affected passengers a full refund, 50% off a future cruise, and up to $500 per stateroom for incidentals, plus assistance with hotel and flight changes.
Passengers described the ordeal as "one of the worst" experiences, with travelers claiming the $150 food and beverage credit barely covered meals for one person, let alone families.
Disney Cruise Line aims to expand its global fleet to 13 ships by 2031, continuing its strategy of bringing Disney cruises "to new guests on new shores" despite recent operational setbacks.
