For fifty years she stood behind the counter of the Van der Meer bakery on the Utrechtsestraat in Amersfoort, but that is now coming to an end. Janny van der Meer can finally retire, after a lifetime of hard work and a serious portion of misery. But she does not complain, she prefers to look ahead. "I will miss the customers. But now I want to see if I can still master painting."
