Dept Q Season 2 Begins Production as Netflix Confirms Returning Cast — with 9 New Cast Member Set to Join the 'Gripping' Hit Crime Drama
The Scottish crime series adds 10 cast members as Netflix says the new season will again follow Carl Morck’s unsolved-case unit.
Netflix's crime drama Dept. Q officially began production on its second season in Edinburgh, Scotland, as the series remains one of the streamer's biggest hits outside the U.S. in recent years.
Based on novels by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen, the show comes from writer-director Scott Frank and producer Left Bank Pictures, exploring complex mysteries alongside detective dynamics.
Matthew Goode returns as DCI Carl Morck, with 10 new cast members joining the series, including Aisling Franciosi as Kimmie and Greg Wise as Derek Powell.
Executive producer Rob Bullock said the team will "tackle a terrible crime hidden in the highest echelons of Scottish society," investigating cases "previously deemed unsolvable."
Netflix has not yet announced a release date or episode count for the new season; Executive Manda Levin agreed, "The story of season 2 is as darkly delicious as you'd expect.
