The Social Democrats government has pushed the number down. At the same time, the Tidö parties boast that "only" 6,700 people sought asylum in Sweden in 2025.
It can be done in the West too, if you really want to: there haven't been so few asylum seekers in the country since 1983.
The number of people granted asylum in Denmark is likely to remain below 1,000 again in 2025. Recent figures from the Danish Immigration Service, published through the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, show that only 839 people received asylum permits through November. This puts Denmark at one of its lowest levels since records began in 1983, reports Berlingske Tidende.
