Delhi HC Says Rana Ayyub’s Tweets on Hindu Deities and VD Savarkar Are “Derogatory, Communal”, Asks Police to Act

- In January 2025, a magistrate court ordered the registration of an FIR against Ayyub, holding that prima facie cognizable offenses were made out under IPC Sections 153A, 295A, and 505.
- Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav noted the "matter requires urgent consideration" during the hearing, while Ayyub previously claimed such complaints are "yet another attempt to intimidate and silence my voice."
- The court scheduled the next hearing for April 10; the Delhi Police reported the tweets in question are no longer available on X, though formal notices were issued seeking responses by Thursday.
