India Says Air Ambulance with Seven on Board Crashed in Jharkhand State
- On 23.02.2026 a Ranchi-Delhi air ambulance operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd crashed near Simaria in Chatra district, Jharkhand, with seven onboard, confirmed by local sources.
- The aircraft departed Ranchi Airport at 19:11 IST, taking off about 7.10 p.m., and after initial contact with the next air traffic control, communication was lost around 7.30 p.m.
- Rescue and investigation teams were rushed to the crash site, the District Administration search-and-rescue team is at the location, and an AAIB team is being dispatched while state authorities follow SOPs.
- Officials added they will confirm details when teams reach the scene, as there is no confirmation on casualties yet and the site is deep in the forest, said Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree G.
- There were seven persons on board, including two crew members, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said, adding `After establishing contact with Kolkata, at 19:34 IST aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at approximately 100 NM south-east of Varanasi.
