Pensions, long sheltered, become a new target of budgetary rigour. A choice assumed by the government, but already challenged by the oppositions.

Under-indexation of pensions, increase in the generalised social contribution, abolition of a tax reduction... Many voices rise to demand a contribution from pensioners in the effort to redress public accounts, which is to be announced this Tuesday François Bayrou.
If the budget plan proposed by François Bayrou is adopted, pensioners will be helped by the freezing of their pensions and by the questioning of the 10% reduction in income tax, but also by the cascading effects of the latter measure.
The Prime Minister presents the main directions of the 2026 finance bill on Tuesday. A budget that seeks to achieve 40 billion euros of savings in order to bring the deficit below the 5% mark of the gross domestic product. Among the possible paths: freeze the pensions of the richest pensioners.
