The image, representing a football game in the middle of buildings destroyed by the Israeli army, had been discreetly removed in August from a place where it was to be exhibited for three months as part of the Deauville Sport Images Festival on the values of sport.
The municipality had decided in mid-August to remove a photograph of Jehad Alshrafi, yet exposed without incident in a square of the city since 6 June. The administrative court of Caen suspended this decision on Monday.
