UNITED STATES, AUG 8 – Homeland Security lifts age limits and offers up to $50,000 signing bonuses as it aims to hire 10,000 new ICE officers amid increased immigration enforcement.
- On Aug. 7, 2025, DHS confirmed in an email that Dean Cain would be sworn in as an honorary ICE Officer over the next month.
- The Department of Homeland Security removed the age limit for ICE applicants and launched a recruitment campaign offering signing bonuses of up to $50,000 and expanded benefits.
- Cain noted his status as a sworn deputy sheriff and Reserve Police Officer, citing patriotic duty in an Aug. 6 Fox News interview.
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said `We have certainly seen a pop in applications in the past few days` after more than 80,000 Americans applied to join ICE.
- In recent months, ICE has adopted more aggressive tactics, including detaining people at immigration court hearings, with arrests more than doubling in 38 states during the first half of 2025.
