DC Council set to vote on ‘Peace DC’ public safety legislation

The D.C. Council is scheduled to vote on the Peace DC measure, a follow-up to last year’s Secure DC legislation aimed at addressing public safety.

The DC Council gave initial approval this afternoon to legislation introduced by Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto as part of her “Peace DC” plan, but only after removing a provision to expand the authority of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s special police officers by allowing them to issue civil citations for fare evasion.
