- David Ketchum joined NBC's Get Smart in its second season , with Agent 13 known for hiding in cramped spots like mailboxes and hydrants.
- Starting in 1967 he shifted into writing, earning his first TV credit and contributing scripts to nearly four dozen shows through 1990, including The Andy Griffith Show and MASH.
- His family said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that he is survived by his wife Louise, daughters Nicole and Wendy, three grandchildren, a great-grandson, and that he `leaves behind a legacy of laughter, warmth and timeless television moments`.
- Ketchum continued acting into the 1980s and 1990s, reprising Agent 13 in the 1989 telefilm Get Smart, Again and appearing in the 1995 Get Smart revival episode.
