- Investigators discovered Rivas Hernandez's dismembered remains inside a Tesla registered to Burke that was towed from the Hollywood Hills on September 8, 2025. The teenager had been reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
- Police documents describe the remains as "covered with insects and a strong odor of decay," court records said. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as "deferred" pending further investigation.
- Homicide detectives arrested Burke at a Hollywood home on Thursday. His attorneys released a statement asserting, "David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez."
- Burke remains held without bail despite no grand jury indictment being returned yet. Legal proceedings continue as prosecutors move forward with the first-degree murder charge announced Monday.
