CWI’s Special Committee Devises Plans to Revamp West Indies Cricket

- On Thursday, Cricket West Indies announced immediate and long-term reforms following an emergency meeting in August, with the Committee's action items approved by the CWI Board of Directors on September 25.
- Following a string of poor results, the committee was formed after West Indies cricket team were bowled out for 27 chasing 204 at Sabina Park and lost a 3-0 home series plus recently lost 2-1 to Nepal in UAE.
- CWI said, 'Immediate actions include hiring an internationally proven batting coach and a full-time sports psychologist for the senior men's team,' while franchise teams must submit Individual Development Plans and meet new standards.
- CWI said implementation begins immediately and it will provide ongoing updates to stakeholders and fans, while Miles Bascombe, CWI's Director of Cricket, said the reforms represent decisive action and will be prioritised despite challenges.
- CWI said the long-term plans include a National Cricket Development Framework unifying grassroots, school, academy, and high-performance pathways, establishing standardised academies for ages 11-18, completing the High-Performance Centre in Antigua, and focusing on financial sustainability through partnerships and mentorship frameworks.
