Jailed Cuban dissident Jose Daniel Ferrer, the longtime leader of the island's pro-democracy movement, announced Friday that he had chosen to go into exile after suffering "torture" and "humiliation" in prison.
The opponent, in prison since 2021, has done so with “honour on high”, without accepting the blackmail, abuse and humiliating conditions imposed on him by the regime.
The Cuban historical opponent, arrested on 29 April and imprisoned in the east of the country, stressed the pressure of the authorities to leave the communist island. According to his wife, his departure to a destination that has not been specified could take place on Monday.
